New WRP Accreditation Framework Decisions for Tasmania

Following an extensive stakeholder consultation and review process, the WorkCover Tasmania Board has approved changes to the current Tasmanian Accreditation Framework for Workplace Rehabilitation Providers (WRPs). These changes will come into effect in 2023.

The Framework ensures WRPs operating within the Tasmanian workers compensation scheme are following best practice.

Changes mean the accreditation framework, amongst other things, will now require individuals providing workplace rehabilitation services to:
-acquire and maintain full membership, accreditation or registration with an approved professional association or Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration board and
-have 12 months or more recent experience delivering workplace rehabilitation services.

One of the benefits of WRPs having membership with their professional associations is undertaking regular professional development. This ultimately benefits workers with an injury who are using workplace rehabilitation services in Tasmania.
